Salons
As an integral part of the point of sale experience in a beauty salon or spa, the payment system should fulfill certain requirements:
Terminals must fit easily into the environment. The personal ambiance of a salon or spa requires that transaction terminals be unobtrusive, and that the transaction experience help build consumer loyalty.
Tip support must be easy. Consumers must be able to easily add tip amounts to transactions, and reports must separate tip amounts from transactions so employees can collect their tips at the end of the shift.
Reporting must be detailed. Employee-level detail must be available for all reports.
Reduce check costs. Check processing fees need to be minimized.
Tip Prompting. A prompt for the tip amount can be added to the sale transaction; this ensures the salon qualifies for the best discount rate since the authorized amount and settled amount must be the same.
Receipt Options. Merchant messages (i.e. "$5 off next manicure") can be added to receipt footers to promote repeat business.
Debit Support. Merchants can offer ATM card transactions to consumers and save with lower transaction fees.
Check Processing Options. To reduce bounced check fees, checks can be authorized using check service providers via split dial or through the primary processor.
Check Conversion. The cost of check deposits and bounced checks can be reduced by converting checks to electronic transactions.
Detail Report. This report simplifies accounting by showing detail for each transaction in the batch by employee, including employee ID, partial account number, amount, and tip amount.
Batch Totals Review. Batch totals can be reviewed on the terminal display for a quick snapshot of the day's business.
